exploring our beliefs, living our values, changing our world

Our Associations:

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) combines the traditions of the Universalists (since 1793) and the Unitarians (since 1825) who trace their roots in America to the early Massachusetts settlers and to the founders of the Republic and consolidated their religious organizations in 1961. Although each of the 1,041 congregations organized into 19 districts in the United States, Canada, and overseas are self=governing, they unite in the Association to provide services that individual congregations cannot provide for themselves. The primary purpose of the Association is to serve the needs of its member congregations, organize new congregations, extend and strengthen Unitarian Universalist institutions and implement its principles. The UUCJ participates in the Mid-South District which participates in the Southern Region of the UUA. The UUCJ also participates in the Mississippi Congregations Cluster.
